Study Guide for Test
This week has an unusual schedule so I have changed the unit somewhat. We were originally supposed to work on Modules 3 & 4 this week and then 5 & 6 next week. I am flip-flopping that. We will focus on Modules 5 & 6 this week. I have revised the calendar and the due dates on the checklist.
Things to note: there will be no quiz on boolean expressions. The test date remains the same (Friday, October 19th).
Monday: NO SCHOOL
Tuesday: I will return last week's quiz and we will discuss the changes to the calendar. Remaining time will be lab time spent on Modules 5 & 6.
Wednesday: PSAT day for students in grades 9 - 11. Dismissal will be at 12:30. Seniors have a Digital Learning day to work on college applications and essays.
Thursday & Friday: I will be in a county meeting for both days. Students will continue to work on modules 5 & 6 in class.

Monday: We will demonstrate different coding solutions for the tasks in Module 1, Practice 2. I will introduce nested/advanced conditionals. Remaining class time will be spent on Lab work.
Tuesday: Lab day to work on Module 1 or 2 tasks. Module 1 assignments due by 11:59 pm.
Wednesday: Flex day --- lab work or small group instruction as needed.
Thursday: Quiz on conditionals. Remaining time will be used for lab work for Module 2 or Module 3.

Monday: I will return the Chapter 2 test and we will discuss as class. If time, we will also discuss the common tasks associated with String methods.
Tuesday: We will focus on Math.random() and students will practice creating correct ranges of numbers.
Wednesday: Gallery demo of Design Your Own Program submissions. We will also have a coding challenge dealing with String & Math methods.
Thursday: MC quiz on String Class and Math Class.
Friday: Intro to conditionals.
I will be out of the building for a state conference on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The students will be working on several Java assignments on String methods and String manipulation. All assignments will be posted on Google Classroom and the lesson plans on Monday morning.
On Thursday, I will work with small groups of students who need additional instruction on String methods. Other students will be working in CodingBat.
Friday will be an introduction to the required methods from the Math class.
