Downloads for APCS A

We will be using Dr. Java as our main programming environment.  You will need to install this software on your home computer so that you can complete assignments outside of class.

Step One:  The first thing you will need to do is install the Java JDK for Java 8.  ***Scroll down to the middle of the page to get to Java 8.  Be sure to down load JDK for your specific operating system (eg windows or MAC).When you click on the JDK download link above, save the file to your hard drive in a new folder called _temp then double-click on that file from windows explorer to run and install the JDK on your home computer.Be sure to completely power down (cold reboot) your computer before moving onto step #2.  This will assure that the compiler is completely installed to your root directory.

Step Two:  Install JDK in Step#1 above first. Once JDK is installed and you’ve rebooted your computer… then install DrJava from their website (6MB).  Again, pending your computer’s operating system, select the “Download Windows App” or the jar file version. *** If you have a Mac computer, you will need to change your app permissions to allow installation of an outside app.
