One of the main programming tools that we use in APCS Principles is EarSketch from GA Tech. This development environment allows the students to create music using the Python coding language. This is the second year that I have had the privilege of working with the GA Tech team. The students like the blend of creativity and programming with EarSketch.
The following article was recently published about the EarSketch program. Hope you enjoy! http://www.news.gatech.edu/features/creating-next-code-composers
The PSAT is a good indicator of college readiness and served as the primary tool for 11th graders to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.
All of our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students are automatically registered for this exam. Students will be done with their day by 12:30 with buses leaving at that time. Boxed lunches will be available for students to pick up in the cafeteria on their way out after the exam.
Students are encouraged to take this exam to the best of their ability so it can serve as useful feedback regarding the student’s academic progress and readiness for college. Students should bring photo ID, #2 pencils, and approved calculators.
We will have two curriculum nights this year. Ninth and tenth grade night is Tuesday, August 29th at 7:00 pm (TAG meeting at 6:30 pm). Eleventh and twelfth grade night is Tuesday, September 5 at 7:00 pm (TAG meeting at 6:30 pm). I hope to see you there!
